Journey to the Aisle series with BlackBride.com

Blush Event Company- Ashley's Engagement session

It’s true, I’m a Planner Bride! Yes, a wedding planner who is getting hitched in October 2016.  After chatting with Mary Chatman, Editor for BlackBride.com, we agreed that the last year has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs for my fiance & I but our story needed to be heard. She suggested blogging with BlackBride.com about my wedding planning journey, I accepted the offer. The series is called Journey To The Aisle, I decided to share the realness with fellow brides in hopes that my story helps others. My true passion is assisting and sharing. Whether assisting our brides with selecting vendors or sharing knowledge with novice planners to grow their business through Wedding Creative Sessions, the end result is so satisfying.

Engagement

This series is not just about the dress fitting, cake tastings, and selecting venues. This series will also include deeper matters; like my fiance (Kenneth) being hospitalized one week after proposing, losing my job in the middle of wedding planning (changed the budget for sure), losing my future Mother-in-Law last month; real life stuff. Yes, yes, yes; all these things happened while planning for the aisle!!

To get you up to speed on our wedding planning journey, here is a recap:

Thanksgiving Day 2015- Kenneth proposed

Early December 2015- Kenneth was hospitalized for a few days

January 1, 2016- Marks the 1yr anniversary of Kenneth’s brother passing

January 15, 2016- We start the process of building our 1st home together

February 15, 2016- My position is eliminated at my corporate job

May 1, 2016- Kenneth’s Mom passes

May 24, 2016- Engagement Photo Session

Over the course of the next few months, I will share my wedding planning journey bi-weekly with the BlackBride.com community. My next post will be live tomorrow on their site, I get to share our fabulous engagement session photos from Michelle Davina PhotographyPsst, don’t tell anyone else but here are a few from the upcoming post.
